İSTANBUL
The initial IMU International Relations Congress, which is set to be held annually by the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul Medeniyet University, will take place on Sept. 18-19, 2025. The congress, titled Turkish Foreign Policy in the New World Order: Diplomacy, Security, System, and Identity, will be hosted in collaboration with Istanbul Medeniyet University and the ORSAM (Center for Middle Eastern Studies).
Our event, recognized as an international refereed congress, aims to bring together academics, experts, and graduate students who focus on the annual theme within the disciplines of International Relations and International Law. Through panels, workshops, and presentations, we seek to provide a platform for sharing research and engaging in discussions on current debates and emerging developments within the field.
The aim of the IMU International Relations Congress is to feature original papers and panels that address the diplomacy, security, system, and identity dimensions of Turkish foreign policy in the evolving new world order, viewed through the lens of international politics and international law.
Individuals wishing to participate in the congress should submit their paper or panel proposals, along with the completed Paper Application Form or Panel Application Form, to imuircongress@imuircongress.org by June 15, 2025
ATTENTION: Abstracts must align with the Congress sub-themes listed below. Abstracts that may not directly relate to any of the sub-themes but are still within the scope of the Congress call will also be considered. Additionally, it is planned to publish a selection of presentations from the congress as a compilation book through a prestigious publishing house.

Abstract Writing Rules
Turkish Title: 12 pt., bold, centered, all capital letters
English Title: 12 pt., centered, with initial letters capitalized.
The abstract should be between 300-400 words and written in the language of the paper (Turkish or English). The text should be justified and in 11 pt. font.
The abstract must include the subject, aim, method, findings, and conclusion of the study. It should not exceed one page, including the English version.
Keywords: No more than 6 words, written in 11 pt. font.

Important Notes
Participation in the Congress is subject to a fee, except for invited speakers.
Participants whose abstracts are accepted after the double-blind peer-review process will be notified via email.
Abstracts of all accepted papers will be published as an e-book.
Full-text papers from those who wish to publish their work will undergo preliminary evaluation by relevant editorial boards and the completion of the peer review process before being published by national and international publishing houses.
The IMU International Relations Congress is an international scientific event that meets the requirements of Article 8, titled 'Scientific Meeting,' in the 'Social, Humanities, and Administrative Sciences Core Area' of the Interuniversity Council Presidency's 'Associate Professorship Application Conditions,' which states in item 'b) The full text/abstract presented at another international/national scientific meeting, published in print/electronic form (The organizing committee of the other international/national scientific meeting must include an academic representative from a university/institute/scientific institution/professional association that has been officially appointed by the institution/legal entity/decision-making body).'
Congress Participation Fee
The participation fee for candidates whose papers/panels are accepted or attendees participating as listeners for the IMU International Relations Congress amounts to: 100 Euro / 100 USD (without accomodation) and to 300 Euro / 300 USD (2 day accomodation and breakfast included) The fee covers the event's souvenir bag, certificate, and tea/coffee and lunch provided throughout the event. Participants coming from abroad will be responsible for their own accommodation and travel expenses.

In which language will the presentations at the congress be conducted?
Presentations will be made in Turkish and English, and paper submissions will be accepted in the specified languages. Panels consisting entirely of papers in English will have presentations in English.

My congress application has been accepted, but I want to withdraw my application. What should I do?
Please send an email to the contact address provided in the application, including the reason for withdrawing your application. The necessary steps will be taken following your email.

Is the full paper required when applying for the congress?
No. Only the abstract of the paper needs to be submitted during the application process.

Will a paper booklet be created from the submitted papers at the end of the congress?
Yes. A booklet containing the abstracts of the papers presented at the congress will be published online at the end of the event.

Will participants receive a certificate?
Yes. A participation certificate will be provided to all participants at the end of the congress.

Do I need to make a registration fee payment when applying for the congress?
No. However, participants whose papers are accepted must pay the registration fee by the specified date.

Are the congress participation expenses the responsibility of the participants?
Yes.

Do the participation fees apply to all participants?
Yes. All participants, whether they are presenting a paper or not (except for invited speakers), are required to pay the participation fee.

For co-authored paper submissions, the participation fee must be paid separately for each author attending the congress.
